A Welsh mum is set to take on the Welsh 3000s Challenge in aid of us, as a thank you to her local firefighters who helped her family following a house fire. To celebrate Volunteers' Week this week we're giving a shout out to all of the volunteer heroes in our communities, in centres and online. Heather Kent, 15, has no direct connection to the fire service but spent six weeks picking litter in return for donations, as a thank you to fire service personnel she says are the “spirit of their community”. From mountain treks to dress-down days, Car Washes and so much more, May has been packed full of fantastic fundraising events. More than 130 representatives from 28 different fire and rescue services across the UK came together this April to take on an epic fundraising challenge in aid of us.
