Dean Nelson was forced to retire from his job as a firefighter after a devastating accident left him with major injuries. Now, while he knows his condition will continue to deteriorate, he says we have helped him achieve a better way of life. When Sean Michael was forced to resign from the job he loved as a firefighter due to illness, he struggled to cope amid Covid-19. But he says the support he received from the Charity was life-changing. Durham firefighter Paul Bainbridge is nine months into his fundraising challenge of running three miles every day, both to raise money and awareness for the positive impact exercise has on mental health. Retired County Durham firefighter Harry Binyon is one of two people to be recognised in the New Years Honours List 2020 for their contribution to The Fire Fighters Charity. We sit down to hear why he's spent 40 years raising money for us. For someone who has spent 16 years struggling with poor mental health, former County Durham firefighter Dave Henderson couldn't imagine ever feeling better. But being invited for a week at Jubilee House opened his eyes to what life could be like if he started to think a little more positively.
