As our ageing population increases, so too do the number of people living with dementia and Alzheimer's. There are currently 920,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over a million by 2024. It is estimated that 1 in 3 people born in the UK this year, will develop dementia in their lifetime.
Alongside visiting Harcombe House to find out about all that we do, HRH Duke of Cambridge and The Royal Foundation have launched a new 24/7 crisis text line for the UK's frontline first responders, supported by The Fire Fighters Charity. Being kind to yourself is not a concept that comes naturally to many of us, but taking a bit of time out of each day for some self care might just be the best thing you could do for your own wellbeing. In celebration of Friendship Day, the Welfare team tells us what friendship means to them and how they can help anyone who feels like they don't have a friend in the world.
