Hampshire and Isle of Wight firefighter, Sophie Hodgson – who was previously crowned Mrs Wales - received support following a back injury and says the mental wellbeing benefits along the way helped with her return to the job she loves. Retired firefighter David Marshall shares how we’ve supported him three times since he retired – and why he’d encourage all former personnel to continue donating after they leave the fire service. Retired on-call firefighter Gil Schaeffer received our support – both for rehabilitation, as well as with his family - after having a life-saving heart operation. Nikki Bridges works as a wholetime and on-call firefighter with Hampshire and Isle of Wight FRS. Here, she recalls attending one of our weeks dedicated to single parents at Harcombe House… On-call firefighter George Christmas and his wife received financial support and guidance from us after a back injury meant George faced months off work with a huge cut to his income.
