Sam Metalli-Haward’s family have been supported by our Welfare team after their son, MJ, was diagnosed with autism and ADHD. They attended a Child and Family Week and sought advice on accessing a therapy dog. Judy Campbell recently walked just under 700 miles in aid of us, raising over £3,500, having seen how we supported her husband Pete with both his physical and mental health. Gary Batchelor, a former firefighter and now a Blue Light driving instructor, says the physical support he received as an Outpatient at Marine Court led to him addressing struggles with his mental health he’d previously kept buried. When the first lockdown hit, firefighter Uzair Yaqoob saw his job change overnight. But keen to help where he was most needed, he volunteered as an ambulance driver to support his emergency services colleagues. Hampshire firefighter Sophie Exton-Woodford has created an illustration to commemorate time spent volunteering in ICU as part of the blue light community’s efforts to support the NHS during the pandemic.
