Peter: Our beneficiary of courage 2015
Station Manager Peter Lau suffered a life-changing spinal injury when his bike collided with a car, leaving him in a wheelchair. In 2015 Peter received the Beneficiary of Courage award at our Spirit of Fire awards.
Stuart: “Three generations of my family have used your services”
Time is precious. We all know that – whether we’re at work, at home or at play, it always feels as if there aren’t enough hours in the day. Even so, there are those amongst us who go out of their way to try and give back to their local community by volunteering their time on top of all their daily responsibilities – Stuart Plaskett, The Fire Fighters Charity Service Coordinator for Cheshire Fire and Rescue, is just such a person.
Steve: “Your support means so much to me”
Devastatingly Hampshire firefighter Steve Holder lost his wife, Sharon last year, after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007. However, in her memory he ran an incredible 20 marathons in 2016 to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity
Adam: “Get it out of your head that the Charity’s just for sick people”
Adam Way, 38, is a firefighter in Gosport, Hampshire. A father of one, he accessed the Charity’s services after injuring his back while practicing Jiu-Jitsu, spending two weeks at Harcombe House. After returning, he passed his fitness test and returned to active duties.
