The McCartan family from Northern Ireland recently attended the Charity's Child and family Programme. Here's their story. John Oakley accessed our services after finding out he would need a knee replacement, and also discovering that he had cancer of the kidney Derek Wilson suffered a life threatening injury when responding to a shout and used the Charity's services to help him get back on the run. Northamptonshire Crew Manager Jamie Thompson was left with life-threatening injuries after a 12.5m fall from a training tower. 10 months later, with the support of The Fire Fighters Charity, this 38-year-old firefighter is literally back on his feet. Devastatingly Hampshire firefighter Steve Holder lost his wife, Sharon last year, after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007. However, in her memory he ran an incredible 20 marathons in 2016 to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity
