Firefighters and staff at Cambridge Fire Station believe successful charity fundraising is all about teamwork. Matt House, the station’s Charity Rep, has led the station’s charity efforts for the past four years and has been involved with fundraising for The Fire Fighters Charity since he joined in 2007. Daredevil Fire Commander Richard Dykes took the plunge and did a 13,500ft freefall skydive to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity in August 2013. Sally Barnett began her career in the Fire Control room at Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service HQ. She became a retained fire fighter after recovering from a serious back injury. She says she would never have been fit enough to do so without the help and support of The Fire Fighters Charity. A regular player of The Fire Fighters Lottery and a beneficiary who has used the Charity's services in the past, Andrew Alecock's numbers came in and he won over £18,000 in April 2014. Here's his story, in his own words. Devastatingly Hampshire firefighter Steve Holder lost his wife, Sharon last year, after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007. However, in her memory he ran an incredible 20 marathons in 2016 to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity
