Serving and retired firefighters from across Wales gathered in Swansea on Saturday, 3 June, to compete in this year’s Welsh Firefighter Challenge – and they made it the most successful to date.
Taking on a series of physical challenges, all of which are designed to showcase their skills and strength, around 100 competitors put on a show for their spectators with runs, a hose carry, a dummy drag, a container carry and more.
Thanks to the fantastic team of organisers this year, they managed to raise £2000 in entry registrations and £747 on the day, all of which is being donated to us to fund our life-changing services.
Jeff Scrivens, our Community Fundraiser for Wales, says: “I want to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in this year’s incredible Welsh Firefighter Challenge. I loved watching the challenges on the day and we saw some fantastic efforts from all involved.
“This is an amazing amount of money raised and every pound of it will make a lasting difference to the lives of fire service personnel and their families across the whole of Wales and the rest of the UK.”
