A woman from South Wales has shared her delight at being reunited with the fire crew that rescued her following a car crash.
Megan Gait was involved in the RTC in December last year and spent an hour and a half trapped in her car, with firefighters working hard to free her – all while keeping her calm.
She was left with a spinal injury and spent months in hospital, but says without their support, it could have been much worse.
As a thank you for their incredible help, Megan has donated £100 to us and also hand-delivered a hamper to the crew at Aberdare Fire Station, before hugging each of them.
She tells us: “They were wonderful to me after the accident. I remember the firefighters being very reassuring. I asked them how long I was in the car and they said an hour and a half, it didn’t seem like it at the time!
“I’d never have coped without them. I didn’t realise they did all the work they did to help me, so to support them now means a lot to me.
“I had a spinal injury and my balance isn’t very good, but I’m a lot better than I was. I was in hospital for three and a half months, then I had full-time carers. Now I’m down to evening carers.
“I’d like to give a regular monthly donation to this charity now, as well as the £100 I gave, as a thank you to firefighters like this across the country.
“I was in tears when I met them all and gave them all a hug. They showed me the fire engine they took me to the hospital in, it was amazing.”
