Our amazing London Marathon runners pulled out all the stops at this year’s event, with some completing the challenge in full fire kit and even a fire engine costume.
More than 30 runners took on the 26.2 miles through the streets of London on Sunday, raising more than £60,000 for us in the process.
In an incredible achievement, Emma Whatley ran the entire race dressed as a fire engine. She was aiming to break 5 hours 30 to get a Guinness World Record, and smashed it with a time of 4.38.
She says: “The main factor that got me through was the supporters. They were so excited when they saw me and that gave me power to push through, especially during the last 5 miles when things got super difficult for me (super fatigue, muscle soreness in my shoulders, arms, and legs, wind gust from sideway).”
