Looking after your joints is about far more than regular physical activity – a healthy diet, taking care doing everyday tasks and looking after your own mental wellbeing are just as valuable.
With that in mind, we’ve shared our second recipe to promote joint health on MyFFC this week, as well as posting 5 top moving and handling tips, some simple exercises for your back and, importantly, information about residential weeks running at our centres throughout March to support you on your #healthyjoints journey.
You can find all of our exclusive content on MyFFC by registering below and joining our Healthy Joints Group, or by searching for #healthyjoints.

Here are some of the highlights from week four:
Most of us handle heavy products every day of our lives without giving it a second thought. Maybe it’s bending down to pick up that online order on your doorstep? Or carrying laundry, books, a suitcase or any other items upstairs at home?
But in the fire service, heavy lifting also becomes part of the job – and if you don’t ensure you’re taking care while doing even the most basic of tasks, it can have long-term repercussions.
Our Exercise Therapist, Ben Chick, has shared some simple tips to stick to when moving and handling any heavy object. You can find out more, watch the video and download a handy graphic by clicking here:
We also shared how we could support you during a series of residential weeks at Harcombe House and Jubilee House in March 2022, as part of our #HealthyJoints programme.
- Are your hips or knees starting to cause you aches and pains?
- Are you finding that joint pain is impacting on your quality of life?
- Are you waiting for joint replacement surgery?
- Have you recently had joint surgery and now looking for support in your recovery?
If you answered yes to any of these, we could well help you. Click here to find out more:
