Six crew members from Liskeard, South East Cornwall have completed a 30 mile kayak trip raising more than £300 for us.
Swapping pumps for paddles the team set off from the banks of the River Tamar at Gunnislake, finishing their journey in the village of Calstock.
“We started with high tide and with the wind behind us,’ said a spokesperson for Liskeard Fire Station.
“But when we finally reached Plymouth and started our journey back, the weather turned on us and made the journey back very difficult.”
The team were originally planning on finishing off back in Gunnislake, but due to fading light and bad weather they ended their journey in Calstock. Despite the early finish it was a great effort considering some of the firefighters had never even been in a kayak before.
“The crew were pleased to have raised just over £300. We want to say a big thank you to everyone who supported us.”
