Celebrating our Patron, The Queen
This year, the country will come together to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee and to celebrate her 70 years of service, 69 of which will have included serving as our Patron. Here we look back on a day many of our beneficiaries will never forget.
A golden day with our Patron
When Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II attended our Golden Jubilee celebration on 10 June 1993, she had marked her own Ruby Jubilee a year earlier and was halfway through her 40th year as Patron of the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund, as we were then known.
This year, the country will come together to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee and to celebrate her 70 years of service, 69 of which will have included serving as our Patron. To mark this incredible milestone and to thank her for her stalwart support of our Charity throughout her reign, we spoke to those who met her in person on a special summer’s day in 1993.
Watch the Queen's arrival on the day
We filmed the moment Her Majesty arrived at the Guildhall, as well as the speeches on the day and her conversations with countless beneficiaries inside.
Can you spot someone you know in the footage? Or can you see yourself there? Let us know by emailing us at marketing@firefighterscharity.org.uk or commenting in one of our groups in MyFFC.
